Silverwood is just 45 minutes drive south from Hobart, Tasmania.

Silverwood offers a unique retreat, immersed in nature, perfect for two. A spacious, open-plan geodesic dome-style house nestled on Franklin's upper slopes, Silverwood is the ideal spot to relax and rejuvenate. The property is just a few minutes' drive from the historic riverside town of Franklin.

The Space
Silverwood provides all you need to get cosy with a wood heater, a good book, or a glass of Shiraz.
Here, we enjoy lazing by the fire, soaking in nature, and watching sunsets turn into clear, starry nights from the patio.
Downstairs, the open-plan living area offers expansive views of South Franklin's hills and the Huon River.
The well-equipped full-size kitchen and the cosy wood heater ensure warmth, even in Tasmania's wildest weather. No BBQ available, but the full kitchen meets all cooking needs.
The downstairs bathroom features a walk-in shower and a large step-in bath for unwinding.

​Upstairs, the queen-size bedroom is furnished with luxurious French linen, perfect for restful sleep.
Guest Access
Silverwood is a private retreat with keycode access. Park your car in the guest undercover parking. You won't encounter anyone else during your stay, but our housekeepers are a few minutes away in Franklin if needed.

Other Things to Note
Child-Free Zone: Silverwood is not suitable for children due to furnishings and potential hazards.
No Pets: The property is frequently visited by wildlife; thus, it's not suitable for pets.
Wildlife Alert: Tasmania's wildlife includes snakes, especially active from October to March. We keep the grass and vegetation maintained to minimize their presence. Never approach a snake, and familiarize yourself with snake safety if hiking.
Water Usage: The property relies on rainwater, so please use it responsibly.
Accessibility: The property has stairs from the living area to the bedroom. The downstairs bathroom features a step-in bath, but there's also a walk-in shower.
Kitchen Amenities: Includes a 3-burner induction stove, oven, fridge, kettle, toaster, and coffee facilities.
Pantry Essentials: Stocked with teas, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Visit Woolworths in Huonville for more supplies.
Gardens: The outdoor areas are sloping and terraced. Please be careful.
Climate Control: A power air-con system and ceiling fans are available. Keep windows and doors closed on warm days to keep bugs out.
Local Dining: Several dining options are available in Franklin. The nearest bottleshop is in Huonville.

Morning or afternoon cruises depart most days on this classic wooden motor cruiser. Local snacks and drinks and the natural scenery of the Huon River. 
Join us on board a classic wooden motor vessel, where you can enjoy the scenery of the Huon River and hear the story of LaDrone's  history around Australia. Enjoy morning or afternoon tea featuring Tasmanian drinks and delicacies, or simply sit back and enjoy the timeless feeling and the beauty of the Huon Valley. Cruises depart most days from Herriots Point, between Franklin and Geeveston.

As you are travelling south, drop in to the apple museum and cafe, cider works and distillery.

With award-winning wines and a menu overflowing with fresh local and Tasmanian produce, Home Hill Winery is a premier dining destination in the Huon Valley.
The restaurant has won numerous awards for its delicious menu, with lunch served between 12pm – 3pm (please check days on website). The cellar door is open for tastings 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm.

Huonville is close by with a range of supermarkets, eateries, post office vehicle repairs, doctors etc.

With a population is about 2000, it is big enough to have most day to day things but rarely crowed. Note that restaurants close early, so e recommend arriving at the restaurant by 7:30, or phone ahead to be sure.

Home Hill Winery are open for lunches.
