Glamping is a fusion of glamour and camping for travelers who want to experience the positive aspects of camping without the “uncomfortable” negatives. Glamping mixes service and comfort with simple structures and the great outdoors.

Our three glamping experiences combine nature, simple accommodation and comfort:
  • From Hobart airport a 40 minute flight to the Southwest Wilderness,
then a 30 minute boat transfer to the camp.
  • Or drive 50 minutes south from Hobart to the Huon Valley for deluxe tipees.
  • In Northwest Tasmania, a couple of hours walk takes you to a rainforest retreat.

 Email: info@huonvalleyescapes.com.au
The amenities found at glamping destinations are just that little bit nicer than the general camp experience. When you’re glamping, there’s no tent to pitch, no sleeping bag to unroll, no smoky fire to build. Instead, there is be a simple but comfortable structure or sturdy pre-erected tent. A comfortable bed with fresh linen, pillows and towels supplied. Whether in a tent, yurt, pod, igloo, teepee or treehouse, glamping is a comfortable way to experience outdoors and nature without sacrificing comfort. Add a well equipped under cover kitchen with cooker, pots and pans supplied or even a chef to serve your meals and you have the perfect glamping escape.

Tarkine Wilderness Lodge
(Northwest Tasmania)

The Tarkine Rainforest Retreat gives visitors access to a remote section of the Tarkine rainforest and the opportunity to experience the ancient rainforest from a comfortable base camp. Nestled amongst ancient forests and Eucalypts at Tiger Ridge, the retreat is the first of its kind in the region, and includes large private permanent tents erected amongst the trees, and the new Tarkine Longhouse – the hub for meals and relaxation around the fireplace. Located on the edge of a forested valley, the Tarkine Longhouse features an open design that allows guests to connect to the surrounding forests on three sides, and a cantilevered veranda extending into the lush canopy. Simply furnished to complement the ancient rainforest’s natural surrounds, the Tarkine Longhouse and Rainforest Retreat offers those seeking a relaxing and reconnecting experience the opportunity to experience the stunning wilderness without sacrificing the comforts of everyday life.

Read about the Huon River on Wikipedia

The Huon River is the fourth largest river in Tasmania, Australia. It is 170 km in length, and runs through the fertile Huon Valley. From Scotts Peak Dam at Lake Pedder where it begins, it flows south-east to the Tahune Airwalk, where the Picton River joins, before heading through the rural township of Glen Huon where, just to the south, flows down rapids to merge with the sea water and become tidal. From there it then travels through Huonville, Franklin, and Cygnet (Port Cygnet). When the river meets the Tasman Sea near Surveyors Bay, it is more than 3.1 miles (5.0 km) wide. In the lower reaches, the average depth of wide river is 10 feet (3.0 m) and maximum depth is 39 feet (12 m).
Huon Escapes offers accommodation and experiences throughout The Huon Trail including Hobart, Huonville, Dover, Ida Bay and Bruny Island.
