Pelverata Falls is one of the tallest and most amazing waterfalls in the southern part of the island state of Tasmania. At astounding 114 m (374 ft) in height, and it is located in the mountains between the small towns of Pelverata, Snug and Cygnet.

The falls are fed from the Snug Tiers but the catchment area is quite small with low water absorbency. This means whenever the weather is rainy, the waterfall quickly reaches spectacular flows, which return to low flows within a couple of days. The best time to visit this amazing place is in winter and spring when the falls have the highest amount of water. During the summer months it drops significantly, but can be spectacular for a couple of days after a storm.

There are 2 ways to access Pelverata Falls:
  • The most popular and practical walking access for most visitors is via Pelverata Road to the carpark at the end of Crosswells Road. Getting to the waterfall is a 2.5km walk each way and requires about 2.5 hours return. It is moderate hiking through a dense eucalyptus forest at first, a short section of rainforest and finally open rocky scree and cliffs.
  • The top of the falls can be accessed from the Snug Tiers 4WD track. 4WD access is controlled by Parks and Wildlife.
