Where will my mobile cell phone work in Tasmania?
Use the interactive maps below to check coverage for Telstra and Optus networks throughout Australia. Tasmania population areas generally have good coverage for Telstra and Optus. Telstra generally has the best coverage for remote areas, though there are a few exceptions. Other networks tend to be patchy or non existent. With mobile phone networks, in general, the more you pay, the better coverage you get.

How can I get WiFi when traveling in Tasmania?Not all accommodations provide WiFi. Your best answer will be either set up your mobile phone as a WiFi hotspot or buy a prepaid portable WiFi device. These devices get internet form the mobile phone network, then make it available to you as WiFi.
Although not perfect, Telstra provides the best coverage throughout Tasmania. The Telstra Mobile Network offers 4G service in all capital CBDs, associated airports and selected regional locations. Telstra states that this device will seamlessly switch over to the fastest available 3G service in other coverage areas.
