There’s been an enthusiastic response to the opening of the Bruny Island Quarantine Station to the public on weekends. Wildcare Friends of Bruny Island Quarantine Station president Kathy Duncombe said the site is also receiving return visitors, as it appears that people don’t realise how much there is to see and then return for a closer look.

“It is wonderful to see the site realising its potential,” Kathy said.

Visitors can explore the intriguing past of the Quarantine Station by going on a self-guided walk that includes 19 interpretive signs and direction markers.

Huon Valley Escapes can arrange accommodation on Bruny Island or nearby at Flowerpot, 10 minutes south of the Kettering Ferry.
