Allow extra 10 minutes travel Huon Valley to Hobart during September and October 2021 The Department of State Growth is undertaking rock cutting stabilisation on the Huon Highway, between Sandfly and Lower Longley. The works involve installing rockfall mesh and rock catching fencing along the exposed rock face on the southbound side of the Huon Highway. The delivery of this project will reduce the risk of rockfalls on this section of road, creating a safer road for all road users.
We will be working from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm from Monday to Friday. The work is expected to be complete by late October 2021, weather permitting. Occasionally we will need to work outside these hours and will let you know in advance when possible. During these works both lanes of traffic closest to the rockface will be closed for the duration of the project, including outside of working hours. Traffic Lights will be used to hold both directions of traffic while work is being undertaken. Road users should allow up to eight minutes extra travel time during this work. Please refer to the map for location details. If you have any questions, please contact our Stakeholder Engagement Consultant, Louella Horne on 0491 696 701 or [email protected].
