Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs will be closed for a 2 week period from October 13 to October 26 while safety and repair work is undertaken at the site. Parks and Wildlife Service Regional Manager Ashley Rushton said the work involves repairs to stairs and walkways inside Newdegate Cave, as well as removal of trees and branches near the Visitor Centre and Thermal Pool. Painting work on the pool will also be undertaken if weather allows. “The work being undertaken is essential for maintaining public access and safety,” Mr Rushton said. “Because of the nature of the work it does require us to close the Cave, Visitor Centre and Thermal Pool while it is undertaken. “We recognise it may inconvenience some people who may have been planning a visit during this period and we do apologise for that but the work is essential safety work that is required.” Mr Rushton said they had scheduled the work for the two week period immediately after the school holidays to minimise inconvenience to the visiting public. The closure is planned from October 13 to October 26, with the centre and cave planned to re-open on Monday October 27. Contact: Liz Wren Phone: 6165 4213 |
